Florida, Texas AM, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Missouri all play games in which they should win. Watching the level of play and possible upsets will be the only point of question. Kentucky will struggle with Western Kentucky who has an SEC caliber RB and may beat Kentucky once again this year. Mississippi State is the underdog against Oklahoma State today, and this is an intriguing time for the bulldogs. Miss St was headed in the right direction under Mullen but have not taken the next step and now with the emergence of Ole Miss and others, it might be Miss State who takes a step back this year. They need this win or it could be a long year. Alabama plays Virginia Tech, and while Alabama should and most likely will win, VT is an above average opener. I simply don’t see VT having an offense that can score on Alabama. Yeldon can control the game regardless of AJ McCarron’s health of his foot. Auburn hosts Washington State in a game that both programs want to win. I think this means more to Washington State at a chance to claim they beat an SEC school. Auburn will be bad this year, trust me, they will be bad. LSU is the favorite against TCU but this should be a lower scoring well played game. TCU under Patterson are always well prepared and Les Miles always makes things interesting. LSU’s defense is stout again and regardless of whether Jeremy Hill plays or not, LSU has RB depth at an elite level. LSU will connect on a deep ball or 2 and win this one. Clemson and UGA is by far the game of the day in the SEC and the nation. Two top 10 programs in the south meeting in week 1 is why football fans are salivating this week. I see this one as action packed with UGA trying to run the ball more than people are expecting and letting Aaron Murray manage the game as opposed to throwing 40 times. Clemson features their own Senior QB, in former Vols commit Tajh Boyd. Boyd has been a great collegiate QB and games like this are why he came back for another year. I see this as a coin flip game and I give a tip of the cap to Clemson. Go Vols and enjoy your college football Saturday.
